    I've tried _everything_
I turn on Install software from third party sites thing in preferences, I added the site to the whitelist. I've downloaded the .xpi and manually tried to install it.

When I do, the extensions won't install - the extensions box always remain empty (no items installed). I've even trying restoring a whole of profile using MozBackup, everything is restored like the bookmarks, settings is restored except the extensions!

I'm using the XP Limited account (I've tried installing under Admin. account) Mozilla 1.04
    And yes, I've tried re-imaging and re-formatting...

Anyone experience the same problem, and know how to fix it?

Download the xpi file. Right click and save as. Open your extensions window in FireFox, and drag the extension you downloaded into that window.

    Solved!
I dragged a file, and and move it over a browser window for a few seconds, then it worked!

    Thanks.

I would delete the whole FireFox profile, including the one contained in documents and settings and try to rebuild FireFox.
    No need to reformat.

You can export your bookmarks to a folder beforehand.

Yes, I've done all that. But it seems MozBackup is the time saver, I'll give it another try.

You edited your post. :D Last time I looked, it didn't work. Anyway, glad it worked.
