Thanks @Spartan Quote from Marcos from there: "A complete changelog will be available with the official release of v17 within Nov 2023." It is not yet announced here: https://www.eset.com/int/home/internet-security/download/#download-manually So, not yet an official release.
0 issues so far and honestly, NOD32 looks exactly the same. I hate where ESET is going with the Internet security and higher suites, for years they have been the only security solution that has chosen not to go with the route of an all in one bloated solution but finally they are starting to do it, seems like this is just the start with the browser extension stuff and password manager. What next? Oh wait, they will probably add a system optimizer, registry cleaner, driver and software updater. That's when I'll be done with ESET for good.
That Eset site (Last updated: November 03, 2023) points at the right bottom to And then you go to Version 16.2.15.0 It is clear that Eset doesn't know what it is doing left and right, and that version 17 is not yet official released
BTW there is a reason why I never started a new thread for a new version until it was officially released. And I am NOT talking about pre-release versions!
Yes I also hate when security vendor tries to develop all kinds of tools and security solution ends up with everything but a kitchen sink. Luckily they add stuff mostly to higher tier products and not to Antivirus. Did they include browser privacy and security extension in AV or only in IS and above?
ESET Windows home products version 17.0.15 have been released https://forum.eset.com/topic/38720-eset-windows-home-products-version-17015-have-been-released/
NOD32 Antivirus 17.0.15.0 just released, saw the link to download on MajorGeeks, I had NOD32 Antivirus 17.0.13.0 previously but checking for updates didn't prompt the update so I manually installed it over the top and rebooted.
I understand some people don’t want antivirus with VPN, file shredders, password managers, and a lot of other stuff. But as long as those features don’t affect the main antivirus’s speed performance. I think some would prefer that one over an AV that is “minimalistic” but slow and/or heavy.
Agreed, just because they offer these things doesn't mean anyone has to use them. Or even download them as in most cases these are optional components that require additional download and installation.
Agreed as well... Also, some products, like Avast and Kaspersky, for instance, even allows you to choose what you want to install, so no need to complain. Others will install them, but they will be turned off and not active by default.
I've actually been going without an AV for a while now. Came across a good deal on ESET a few months ago and said what the heck, I'll get it. It's just as efficient now as it ever was. The last time I used it I think it was V4. The landscape has changed a lot since then, but they seem to have adapted pretty well.
