I just downloaded and installed the Acronis True Image Beta version 2010. I used it to backup my system and to create a rescue boot.

I then tried to boot from the rescue boot. It wouldn't work. I then used an XP installation CD, it won't even pause to say it won't boot, it just glides right on by and boots normally. I have tried several other bootable discs but they all hang.

I get the following error message

    Error booting from CD/DVD Drive,
    a blank screen,
with 81400219 in the lower right hand corner.

The computer is running well, the cd drive plays music, opens to show files, writes cds, it just won't boot.

I should add, I checked the bios and it has the cd drive as the first bootable device.

    Any thoughts?

Your optical drive must be marginal and doesn't properly detect the cds that are bootable. Do the bootable cds boot in another system?
