I've just installed the trial version of NOD32 v2.5 and followed the steps in the sticky for Extra settings in NOD32. I wanted to check if I had done everything properly by using a test that doesn't use a malicious file, but will still trigger a response from the AV, thus ensuring the set-up is secure for my browser. I was also going to try sending one as an attachment to check if it would be caught in my Outlook Express 2k e/m ac. I was recommended Eicars Anti-virus test file.
I dl'ed the four files and scanned them with NOD32, but as far as I can tell the AV was unable to detect the files in zip archives. Here's the results from the log, maybe I'm wrong:
My Sygate Firewall also caught the following packet and I'm not sure what it means [looks like double dutch to me] but it seems to confirm that the AV failed the test afaik.

Hmm.. No problem detecting them here.
Also note when hitting "Scan & Clean" the number of files goes up to 6, not 4.

    Sorry Mate, missed that part.

In that case the firewall must be affecting/disabling the download.

    Cheers :D

I am also trying with the Eicar test and now have a doubt about archives:

The message says that the file eicar_com.zip is infected and may be cleaned, but all the buttons are deactivated.
    Is this correct?

    Can Nod clean archives o_O?

    Thanks.:)

iirc nod32 cant clean individual files inside an archive, but it gives u the option to delete the entire archive.
