EagleGet Downloader

I have used IDM for ages. The increase in download speed it gives me is consistently 12% over the nominal speed. With 625 KB/s nominal (5000 Kb/s), it gives me 700 KB/s.

I haven´t tried EagleGet yet.

I see. I usually use KeeVid for videos. I think I'm going to remove EagleGet. I can get everything it does without installing extra app.

That's 12% increase is nice but not near what they and every downloader claims.

 

Segmentation can increase the download speed when the maximum speed available from the site is limited. If you can only download at 100 KB/s per segment, using 4 segments can in principle increase the overall speed to 400 KB/s. But these cases are rare.

 

Usually those kind of sites have download thread limitations (of 1) as well, making this type of software only uniquely useful for resuming downloads. They tend to be better at that than browsers, especially after closing the program (like shutdown) in my experience.
