No it's not . However they're taking they're time much like F-Prot did not so long ago.

and FYI, drweb have never publically given dates or even promoted V5 publically.

Igor did mention October, but this was dug up from a perosonal interview for when he expects it, not a company statement or a promise to it's customers.

If you are migrating from another AV you get a discount. I paid only $20.55 for Dr. Web+Anti-Spam in January 2008.

Migration discount was a good deal, but I believe it is now valid only for business customers and specific AVs.
    Per Dr Web:

    No- not was- is.

I migrated from NOD32 and the list of qualified AVs is about 95% of the AV market, so the probability is that the migration discount is a good deal for most.

Ya I know- then what's the problem? World-class protection for much less than many other AVs.

They promote paranoia and they charge accordingly. Each one claims to offer excellent protection which is true in most cases. Therefore, if you pay $79.00 for one firm's product and pay another firm $29.00, the odds are you paid at least $50.00 too much for one of the AVs.

I have licenses for nine (9) AVs, and for the money, Dr. Web is as good as you will find on a cost/benefit basis. Never had malware invade with Dr. Web, or any other AV for that matter and I have used PCs since 1980.

I bought mine -a two year-license and i am not saying that it is bad but it is very heavy. I bought it because it was very light atg the moment but soon after that it became as heavy as an elephant which i do not like. is it a light AV in respect to browsing?

well, seeing as it doesn't have an http scanner, there should be zero difference.

It's Russian and has been developed since 1992.

I think the pros are in lightness and stability. Removal of active malware, ability to detect polymorphic viruses or rootkits/other complicated malware also get mentioned at times. They also have decent heuristic technology and packer support. Signature updates are released once per hour.

Cons are mainly in pure detection rate according to lab tests, old fashioned GUI, slow scanning speed and self protection.

.. And they do have the free "CureIt" utility(http://freedrweb.com)that is an on-demand scanner only, but has full cleaning abilities.
