Using windows xp AVG AS free
Scanned today and avg which picked up the following 268 times,
    C:\WINDOWS\PC health\HelpCtr\vendors\CN=Hewlett-Packard,L_C.
I can't see the rest of the line.
    Also picked up C:WINDOWS\PC health\HelpCtr\PackageStore\package_8.cab
This is an unusual amount so any help on what to do would be apprieciated.

Please ignore the detection of these files and send us one or two files that will be detected as Downloader.Agent.ajn, so that we can fix this false detection:

Unfortunatley I can't upload any files because the full address was too long
Had to do a system restore, since detection and quarantine of the false positives resulted in no internet connection.
    Since system restore,all is ok.
Have seen similar reports about this on other forums.

    Hi,

we are not sure what exactly was the problem during the upload. Everything should work fine. Maybe we could recommend renaming the files or placing them to ZIP or RAR archive first and then upload it like this next time you come across such a problem (hopefuly not).

    Thank you

I also have a case where the PCHealth files were falsely detected and "cleaned". I'm wondering just what does a "cleaning" do to a file that isn't infected? Does it damage the file in any way? As far as I know, the poster is not having any problems after running AVG-AS.

    Thanks.

    Hi,

this is hard to say as there are no exact malware names mentioned but files detected these days are usually created, not exactly infected, so the removal/healing process is to delete the file. If the file was really infected, then healing means to remove the malware code from the file and to return the file to original state. So this may be different from case to case. If file is detected as false and you try to heal it, then it may be removed, but there also may be part of the program code removed and that may destroy the file.

    Thank you

Thanks for the reply. I always instruct them to "quarantine", just in case, but they don't always follow instructions. :)
