I used to use XB but no longer. They are MIA. Steve showed up here last to thank someone for nominating him for an award, ignoring all the posts asking where he's been and why he's not answering support tickets, etc. Forums are down. Email questions not answered. I'm dissappointed as I think they had great promise. Now I wonder about XB.

OK, it's "DoubleVPN" -- which was the question. And it's apparently just that ...

Merely chaining two VPN servers is pretty weak anonymity, IMHO. YMMV.

It's doable with http://perfect-privacy.com, for example -- and probably for many others that provide access to many servers.

Yes, I ran into that too. Requiring a login account for your website Home is pretty stupid, IMHO -- or bad PR, at least. If you block all scripts until selecting "Features" or whatever, you won't get the login prompt.

The price seems reasonable, but keep in mind that 5GB allowance of bandwidth per month might not last too long, depending on your internet usage. Also, per their FAQ, VPN4All does not allow Torrent/P2P traffic on any of their servers. They claim to use traffic shaping, which means P2P or any other protocols they deem to be undesirable are likely blocked altogether. Their service looks like it would be ideal for casual web browsing and e-mail, but otherwise one may want to consider a VPN provider that doesn't put such restrictions on types of internet traffic and bandwidth consumption.

so isnt the double hop and now their triple hop more secured?

considering all else the same for other single hop vpn services

Sorry. I thought you were referring to DoubleVPN.com, which (for me, anyway) seems to be mostly in Russian.

Now I get that it was VPN4ALL.com, which had been the topic.

Anyway, there's no simple answer. Against adversaries that can observe only the entry or exit nodes, having an intermediary node or two is certainly more secure (if they can be trusted, anyway). Against adversaries that can observe both entry and exit nodes, it may do little good, unless your traffic is well mixed with the traffic of enough other users. If it's not, even without breaking any encryption, attackers could determine who you're communicating with, and when.

    Re: VPN4All

Im using the vpn4all service and had the same problems I got this back from admin:

If you click on the My Account button it takes you to this page http://www.vpn4all.com/memberlogin
which solves the problem if you have blocker for dropdown panels

Also they sent me a notice that in 2 weeks they are moving to License Numbers and all logins will be deleted. You register once and thats that. And to get into the members area you can do so from the gui.

As to P2P, they allow it if its legal although they write in their tos that they dont. I asked them specifically about that and they said they never stopped anyone as no one has abused. And on the bw they are providing cheap pricing for that upto unlimited bw so that you can chose what is best suited for you. The 100gb package is fine and the pricing is still better than most.

Otherwise, I think the features like automation on startup and having the choice avaialble of a fixed IP is really helpful for me at least. Perfect privacy was a pain to use. I couldnt stand uisng the open vpn gui, but I guess its a matter of convenience.
