When I inquired via email to the DS sales email address, I was told that the license was lifetime with free upgrades. At no time was I told that upgrades were free for only two years, etc.

Now if you would be so kind as to share your source as to the 40% upgrade charge after two years...

I thought I would report back that although I found DS did a perfect job in backing up and restoring our PC's I nevertheless decided to buy IFW/IFL/IFD (which I found functionally comparable to DS). The deciding factor for me was that TU is far more 'open' insofar as disclosing the changes of each new release and their website provides a wealth of information.

    TS,

Of the two I definitely prefer DS, but you really can't go wrong with either one, they are both excellent products. Your rationale (for making your purchasing decision) is certainly right-on.

Exactly! Well said. Slap them both on a PE (or multi-boot USB) and you're good to go. There's no better combo than DS/IFW (or IFL).

Having used DS for many years, and having talked with Tom semi-regularly, I can tell you that is not true. Updates are free for life. The purchase is a one-time fee.
