    Hello all...

I have a maxtor 80gb ata 133 that i am trying to use disk clone with ati v10 home.

So far I've performed the source 80gb pata disk clone to a western digital raptor 150gb drive. The disk clone seemed to go through all the steps but after I shutdown and reboot I get this error.

DISK BOOT FAILURE, INSERT SYSTEM DISK AND PRESS ENTER

I am not sure what to do. I removed the old 80gb maxtor and tried to boot from the new sata drive and this is what i've gotten.

When I left the old drive hooked up to ide1 and sata on sata master port 4 I got a different error

    ERROR LOADING OPERATING SYSTEM_

The reason I'm wanting to do this is I'm upgrading to vista on the sata drive. I want to have the 80gb maxtor as a back-up in case vista has issues I can always go back to my maxtor running xp pro...

    Thanks in advance...

    Hello busyb,

Thank you for choosing Acronis Disk Backup Software.

We are sorry for the delayed response.

Please notice that it is strongly recommended to remove either source or destination drive before booting the system after cloning. Otherwise, Windows may become confused and after the change in drive layout become unbootable. Please also have a look at this article for some information on how cloned Windows installation behaves.

As for transferring your operating system from IDE to SATA hard drives, please have a look at this article.

    Thank you.
