Di I need UnhackMe if running AVG Antispyware 7.5?

    I have never felt that UnhackMe has done much. Do I need it if I have AVG AntiSpyware? Does AVG detect rootkits properly?

    Hello,

    If you have a rootkit, you can never be 100% sure if the infection is properly removed by doing in-Windows forensics. Besides, the simplest way of curing such woes is to format and start over.

    I cannot tell you about the effectiveness of UnhackMe. However AVG AS is a pretty solid tool. You do have AVG ARK if you want. And SAS is also OK for detection of installed rootkits.

    Isnt that part of AVG antidpyware? - Wouldnt that functionality be included as I have the commercial version?

    Cheers. I have installed and run it - nothing found! However, it states at the end of the scan that the protection is included in commercial version.
