    Hello,

    I was just wondering if there are any AV programs out there that also use a dedicated AS lab with there AV product, As in how AVG has the Ewido LAB separately working on the AS side.

    I am interested to know because if one company has 2 different offices one dealing with AV and the other with AS then by logic both engines should be very efficient, Because when both are handled in the same environment sometimes AS is put second best to the AV feature

    Just off the top of my head;

    Sunbelt software comes to mind with Vipre (AV+AS) and the dedicated antispyware application, Counterspy.

    Lavasoft has Helix (Avira clone) antivirus and Ad-Aware AS.

    PC Tools offers separate AV and AS applications.

    -I'm sure there's others.

    The online anti-spyware scanner from CA (formerly Computer Associates) is different from their antvirus. CA (eTrust, etc.) is now almost exclusively expensive enterprise products, but this is one of their best offerings and it's free:

    Gerald,

    Didn't they buy out Pest Patrol? I wonder if this scanner is based on Pest Patrol?

    Yes, they did. It may indeed be based on the old Pestpatrol. However, the CA spyware database is used and it's one of the largest and most respected in the industry.

    I haven't looked at CA for a very long time.
    You got me curious now.
    I may have to take a look at that online scanner.
