    Used HDD regenerator (older ver) of few occasions. Worked as advertised those times.

    I'm using Driver Genius Professional for 2-3 years. Never had a problem, works great.

    How does these tools fix the problem that caused the bad sector ?

    Well, in a recent case, HDD Regen 2011 fixed the few bad sectors that were plaguing a portable USB HDD (directly from Windows). I don't know yet if this fixed HDD has yet a long lifetime, but it solved my problem for now. I find 2011 version quite well made, with for instance the possibility to re-scan in repair mode only the sectors seen as bad or dubious during a first rapid scan. It also remembers last scanned position between sessions.

    Dposoft offer some nice rebates from time to time, I was lucky to catch one a few months ago.
