@Cheaters if you do know the site cheaters, please share it with Mike in a Private Message as we don't allow live links to malware.

@Mike I have a list of known CWS domains I'll PM it to you. ;)

    Hi cheater87,

    Have you now run CWShredder?
And Ad-Aware and MSAS and your Anti-virus program (all updated of course)?
And, if you have one, an Anti-Trojan program?

his software works ok as it can detect cws but since his siblings go to questionable sites, cws keeps coming back.

I think this would be a good first step as too explain to them the consequences(for your computer) of visiting such sites as well as your brother. ;)

just add the sites they visit to the hosts file, maybe then theyll listen to u. for example after u open up the HOSTS file in notepad add a line like:

    127.0.0.1 www.ebaumsworld.com

Your computer, your rules! I would probably make a limited user account and get something like ProcessGuard. Set it up to only allow a select group of known software (including Firefox, excluding IE by just setting to 'allow once') and then set it to 'block all new and changed programs' before letting them at it. They won't be able to change anything from another account. You may also want to try something like Ewido or BOClean as a secondary scanner.. it may be better at cleaning.

You should also think about hardening the system to prevent these things from entering the system agian, see my sig.

Mine provides a Hosts file to block porn sites (which will prevent them from accessing the ones listed), merge it with your current hosts file by either using an application to do so or just do it manually using C&P.

The main index page is here -> http://hostsfile.mine.nu/downloads/

If you can't locate it on the index page and would like a direct download link use this -> http://hostsfile.mine.nu/Hosts.porn.zip

If you need other instructions for utilizing a hosts file here's a thread to get you started

    Regards,

    Steve

ewido is an antitrojan and a powerful one at that. searching the forums, ull find several threads. this one compares ewido to trojan hunter and boclean.

Download.com Review of Ewido Security Suite
    3
This antispyware utility demonstrates mostly solid protection skills, but we do have our share of complaints. Ewido Security Suite consists of a real-time monitor, a spyware scanner, and basic diagnostic tools. The real-time protection proved very reliable in our tests, blocking all malicious components we purposefully tried to install. The program's scanning module was a bit disappointing; not only is it very slow, but it left a number of spyware-related Registry keys that some of its competitors removed. Ewido Security Suite's elegant interface is easy to understand at first glance, but we still wish it included built-in help files. The application's diagnostic tools let you control running processes, start-up entries, and connections, but you'll have to be savvy to use them, as the program provides little information as to which items are potentially dangerous. In some cases, the program seemed to hog an inordinate amount of memory when its real-time shield was active, and the two-week trial period is too short for our tastest. Ewido Security Suite is worth trying, as long as you're prepared for the aforementioned snags.

im confused as to why cnet refers to it as an antispyware program when it clearly specializes in detecting trojans. as for ur brothers account, if he put a password hint u can try to guess his pasword based on it but u rele have no need to access his account to scan for spyware. any antimalware program will scan the entire hard drive regardless if the user accounts are password protected.

when you do the scanning do it in safe mode (tapping the F8 key on bootup)

to enable Spybot's hosts file, open Spybot>Mode, Advanced Mode>Tools>Hosts File>click on Add Spybot-S&D hosts list.

If Spybot's hosts file is being blocked from being added, go Spybot>Mode, Advanced Mode>Tools>IE Tweaks and uncheck "Lock Hosts file read-only..."

this is a very good scanner:
http://www.mwti.net/antivirus/mwav.asp - replaced direct download link with a link to MicroWorld's Download Page - dog

make a new folder and put it in there. look in the folder for kavupd.exe, double-click kavupd.exe, that will update it, it may take awhile, but it will be worth it. when it has finished updating, from a dos box, it will say press any key. Then go into safe mode, go back to that folder and double-click mwavscan.com, that will start the scanner. Check all the boxes, except the radio button that says "Drive", as my screenshot, then press Scan Clean.***NOTE*** i just checked my screenshot and it has "Program Files" selected, select "Scan All Files" instead.

when you have done that, reboot and download HijackThis and post a log at one of the security forums, not here, Wilders' had to stop because the demand was too high and it wasn't fair on everyone.

when you get the all-clear download SafeXP, WWDC.exe, SecureIT etc.

Really, my perception of ewido is that it's more of an all-encompassing anti-malware program...perhaps specializing in trojan removal, but also focusing on less serious forms of spyware as well (i.e. - cookies, etc.). For example, when I scanned my PC with ewido, is recognized and removed about half a dozen tracking cookies. My guess is that is how they are able to accumulate such a large signature database (100,000+ signatures). Products like BOClean, TrojanHunter, TDS, etc., have much smaller signature databases of around 30-35,000+ because they focus primarily on trojans, rootkits, keyloggers, dialers, etc., and not cookie removal. Since ewido does the job of your basic anti-spyware apps plus covers more extensive and serious forms of malware, that's my guess as to why it is considered as an "anti-spyware" program.

spybot only scans the user not everyone. that is why i want to go into his account. also spywaredoctor misses things in the full system scan that it can only find when scanning the person's profile. idk why its annoying. but this is why i want to go into his account.
