    Anyone who can help me, I would be extremely grateful. I have had the CWS trojan for a few weeks now and have tried everything but to no avail. I have Adaware, Search and Destroy, Spyware Blaster, Macafee Firewall and Virus Scan and Hijack This. These detect the bad files and remove them but they always pop back up, usually within minutes. I have found some files in the add/remove programs list that are not supposed to be there but everytime I try to delete them, it says they are write protected. I have tried CW shredder and it hasn't found anything. Here is my log from HiJack This and the qurantined files from Adaware for today. Thank you in advance for your time.

    please download hijackthis from here
    unzip the download into a convenient permanent folder( like c:\hijackthis)
    and run the program. hit the scan button, when the scan is finished the button changes to save log. save the log, open it with notepad, pres ctrl+a to select all and copy it's contents here
    someone here will be happy to analyze the results for you

    let's try this:
    Please download this tool called about:Buster from:

    http://www.downloads.subratam.org/AboutBuster.zip

    Unzip it to your desktop but don't run it yet.

    Now start Hijackthis and tick the boxes next to these items:

    R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = res://C:\WINDOWS\system32\dkbdt.dll/sp.html#96676

    R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Search_URL = res://C:\WINDOWS\system32\dkbdt.dll/sp.html#96676

    R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = res://C:\WINDOWS\system32\dkbdt.dll/sp.html#96676

    R3 - Default URLSearchHook is missing

    O2 - BHO: (no name) - {30D83F56-DA50-B817-EF00-1DEB557B32F8} - C:\WINDOWS\iprh32.dll

    O3 - Toolbar: (no name) - {BA52B914-B692-46c4-B683-905236F6F655} - (no file)

    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [ntxw32.exe] C:\WINDOWS\ntxw32.exe

    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [qxmjojwda] C:\WINDOWS\System32\njqkny.exe

    Now close ALL windows and hit fix checked.
    Do not open internet explorer to come back here until after running the tool.it might be a good idea to print this before proceeding..

    Double click aboutbuster.exe, click OK, click Start, then click OK. This will scan your computer for the bad files and delete them.

    Once the tool is done scanning, copy the log and paste it into your thread.

    Restart your computer and post the report and a new Hijack this log.

    also i see no antivirus protection there..
    here is a free one:www.free-av.com
    download, install, update and do a full system scan

    a strange but suspivious exe here in your processes:C:\WINDOWS\mfczi.exe
    kill that with windows task manager, press ctrl+alt+del to open it, select processes tab, highlight the process C:\WINDOWS\mfczi.exe and click on end process, then locate the file C:\WINDOWS\mfczi.exe and rename it to mfczi.vir

    if it's not visible it probably has the system/hidden attribute, to enable showing of system and hidden files:

    * Click Start.
    * Open My Computer.
    * Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
    * Select the View Tab.
    * Under the Hidden files and folders heading select Show hidden files and folders.
    * Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
    * Click Yes to confirm.
    * Click OK.

    i'd like a copy of that file. can you zip it up with winzip and send it to me, illukka at dslr.net (without spaces) also send it to submit@diamondcs.com.au

    Thank you so much! It seems to have worked. I am having trouble with zipping the folder you requested. I am not very informed on the zip thing. My computer unzips files automatically and I can't figure out how to make it zip them-- if you tell me what to do I will gladly send it. I did find the file though but its not showing in task manager. It WAS hidden and its called "prefetch". Should i just dump it? There is a bunch of stuff in there including, i think, my spider solitaire game that came standard with windows xp and is no where to be found now. By the way, I am missing word, excel, power point and a whole bunch of other stuff that comes with windows. Any ideas about how to recover those or am i just going to have to reinstall everything? Unfortunately, I closed down the Buster thing before copying the log. I was expecting there to be an option to save and then there wasn't. I am sorry about that. If there is some way I can recover it so that you may use it to help others, please let me know. Here is the log from hijack this:

    hi
    first you can safely delete everything inside that prefetch folder, but leave the folder. in fect its recommended to clean the prefetch every now and then.

    what do you mean that excel etc are not there?
    no icons, or what, do you still see them listed in control panel/ add remove programs?
    are the program folders still present at program files folder?

    there are some things you need to fix with hijackthis:

    O3 - Toolbar: (no name) - {BA52B914-B692-46c4-B683-905236F6F655} - (no file)

    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [qxmjojwda] C:\WINDOWS\System32\njqkny.exe

    did the antivir find something? can you attach antivir scan log here? it's located in program files\avpersonal\logfiles

    Okay, I deleted all the prefetch stuff and the two files from the hijack this log. Something is still going on because the antivirus you told me to download keeps finding trojans. But, as far as I can tell the computer is running as it should. Don't know if this is new stuff trying to get in or remnants of old stuff. Many windows components are completely missing. Nowhere on the hard drive at all, anywhere, at least in places I know to look. I have tried add/remove programs, search and exploring to no avail. Here is the anti virus report:

    hi

    well that wasn't the log i was after, i wanted to see what viruses were found and disinfected.

    as far as i know about buster doesn't uninstall microsoft office, i very much doubt that this is related to it,

    could be some of the other removals/scans that did it OR one of the backdoor infections you had there.. you know that the person controlling the backdoor can do anything to your computer...

    can you tell me the names and paths of the trojans that antivir keeps on finding?

    can you post a new log too, and a full startuplog from hjt( config> misc tools >create startuplist log)?

    do you have a firewall installed?

    here is some more info on how to secure your system

    Sorry...here are the log files from hijack this. I can't find the log for the anitvirus. There is no logfile option anywhere as far as I can tell and I did look. It actually doesn't give me a file name when it prompts, it just says that it has found a trojan and then options: fix file, wipe, delete, quarantine, etc. I keep choosing delete. I installed the antivirus you recommended. I think it is a firewall too... also have spyware blaster which is one right? I did have mcafee firewall/virus scan but dumped it one day last week in a fit at having spent $70 and still having problems. :rolleyes: Thanks for sticking it out with me, I really appreciate your time and effort.

    actually, I was mistaken about the anti virus, this is what it says:

    C:\SYSTEM VOLUME INFORMATION\_RESTORE{C3D700E3-985C-4CF8-B31E-205782C70E07}\RP256\A0037205.DLL

    The Trojan horse TR/Dldr.WinSh.AC.05
