TDS-3 Common Ports Check Plug-in consistently reports that port 25 (SMTP) is open (Windows XP Pro - all updates installed); yet Port Explorer and NETSTAT do not show this port open.

Have rebooted several times, and yet Common Ports Check Plug-in consistently shows this port open (while no other tool sees the port open.)

Does anyone else see this behavior? Any thoughts/suggestions?

    Best regards,
    Mike

P.S. Two independent external port scans confirm Port 25 not open through the firewall.

Sounds like a bug, TDS-3 may be interpreting the closed or stealth status incorrectly

Everything should be shown correctly in Port Explorer, the complete port analysis tool :)

I have the same results when using TDS3's common ports check. Port 25 is always "open," yet Port Explorer does not show a connection to that port. TDS3 bug...?

Shield's Up and other online scanners show port 25 as stealth.
