    Yes alternative is the better one to use, due to better hardware support.

    In fact, it was me who emailed the developer, steven chou, to initiate the topic of adding Secure boot/uefi support to Clonezilla (alternative version based on Ubuntu x64) last year. He was very responsive and added this new feature within a few months.

    I've been using the AMD64 alternative version for 2-3 years for imaging of my ubuntu and Windows, never had a problem.
