My father has just installed ESET Smart security

When opening Microsoft Outlook he gets he gets a message:

an applic. Running on this comp. is attempting to comm.. with a remote comp.in a trusted zone

App. Cli app ( command line interface )

    Remote comp. 127 . 0 . 0 .1

    Publisher unknown

    Remote port 1025

If he says to deny it just keeps popping back up.

I have never had this so just wondered if it was ok?
It seems to be communicating with the local host so I suspect it is?

    Thanks

    Hello DonVa,

This should have been allowed within the default settings. When the allow or deny window pops up, check the box to remember the rule and then click allow.

    Thank you,
    Richard

    Hi Richard,

The default settings/rules for Interactive mode allow inbound from the trusted zone, any outbound TCP to the trusted zone will cause popup.
I am curious as to why outbound UDP to the trusted zone does not give a popup/warning.

Creating the rule in such a way will currently allow that application all outbound to the trusted zone, but will also allow all outbound to the Internet.

    Hello DonVa,

That is a loopback address. Just to be safe though, put in a support request to have us look at this. ESET support page: http://www.eset.com/support/contact.php

Then send me a personal message with your case number.

    Thank you,
    Richard
