Raiden has published a nice review of CentOS 5.3. http://www.raiden.net/articles/review_centos_53/ And now: !!!.... with Live CD: http://distrowatch.com/?newsid=05492 http://lists.centos.org/pipermail/centos-announce/2009-May/015944.html Previously the absence of a 'live' option may have put some users off ?? My experience is that as a desktop this is rock solid with all the tools you might need including codecs. Maybe not 'cutting edge' , but then again no eff-ups here either. No hours in forums or with MsGoogly It's a bit like a Volvo: LOL: not perhaps 'sexy' per se, but just does the job. Dip a finger.. All that RedHat power for free. Can always 'play' with other stuff. Anyone else like or no?? Edit: Heh; having got all misty about 5.3, there are a few little niggles that might be an issue for some users, but nothing this dweeb couldn't get the head around: be interesting if anyone has any other opinions. @mrK: was looking for a comparison: not there
Very good news indeed. I have 5.3 on an elderly laptop, started with 5.2 partly on your recommendation, and then upgraded. I can confirm the rock solid part. Thanks for the info.
