CC cleaner and index.dat

    After cleaning index.dat cookie file with CC Cleaner the index dat was not recreated? Should it not be recreated by Windows

    windows does recreate it, maybe it's only after a reboot though, but probably not, did you try rebooting?. where is the index.dat you're talking about? are cookies and internet addresses still being stored? if you're using a certain program to view it maybe the program is wrong?

    here's a program that says it "Displays the record number inside the cookies index file (index.dat)" it might show something, and should be a standalone none install program. i'm not sure it works with vista though!

    Hi

    I did reboot but no index .dat in my cookies folder. I have XP home not Vista
