    I installed returnil the free home edition.

    It worked great. Then I wanted to change my system and I couldn't. I tried turning everything off in returnil. I rebooted. I repeated a couple of times. I could still not change anything. I attempted to uinuinstall returnil and to my surprise it appeared to work - only I STILL cannot change my system. I also cannot change any setting on returnil as it doesn't appear to be on my system any more. Very annoying!

    Can someone tell me a way to completely remove returnil from my system? I don't want to have to reinstall wondows to do this - I installed it to keep my current version of windows healthy!

    Hi EmuEmu and welcome to the forums :)

    Please use the steps in this sticky to recover from the damaged install/uninstall:

    https://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?t=264715

    Reference this thread and send us the following information following the final install from the steps in the sticky:

    * C:\Windows\rvs3.log
    * C:\Windows\rvs3-inst.log
    * MSINFO32 report**

    **Click START > RUN > Type MSINFO32. On the System Information screen click FILE > Export and then save the file where you can find it to attach to your reply.

    Thnaks I'll try this later when I get near the computer. The issue however was not because of Manual removal attempts or Third party uninstall attempts.

    I cannot follow these steps.

    1. I cannot Turn RVS System Safe virtualization off as I cannot open it now i have tried to uninstall it.

    2. There is no C:\Returnil\ RVSYSTEM.DAT

    3. Windows Installer CleanUp Utility does not find it.

    Can you describe "mucking around" in greater detail?

    Thanks

    Sorry I did a few things and rebooted several times. I've no idea what did the trick...
