    hey guys,

i was just wondering, for music... can winamp be beaten, anyone found anything better?

currently using it with powerdvd for my dvds, but was just 'curious' to know if there is anything better for music, than winamp.

It depends what do you want to do with WinAmp. Playing music, watching movies? I killed it long time ago, using now MusikCube and MPC.

I use Windows Media Player 10 at the moment . My favourite was Media Player 9 because v9 is lighter on resourses ;)

Can Winamp be beaten , may be yes , nothing can live forever . If somebody creates software light on resourses and make it popular + free , then yes :)

Im still using Winamp. All I use it for is browsing my mp3 collection and playing music. I dont need a media manager to organise/categorise my music or convert files or any other fancy features - IMHO nothing beats Winamp for ease of use in this dept.

Not really - if your talking about freeware (for music) - although JetAudio Basic is as good (and for may taste, it has a much better interface)... http://www.download.com/JetAudio-Basic/3000-2167-10013740.html?part=dl

And if you are willing to pay for either advanced version, my vote (for music) goes to JetAudio 6... http://www.cowonamerica.com/products/jetaudio/

JetAudio is probably the best free player because it play almost everything.

WMP 11 is still the best, version beta 2 has some bugs though. Final version on Oct. 30th.

The UI is just great. :D

Yes WMP 11 is a big step forward, but is still don't like it. 80 MB memory eater. My MusikCube needs mostly 10 MB with an MP3 base of about 15.000 titles :)

I must agree with that too,
I have 180 Gb of Mp3's, I did not try winamp but both WMP 10 and Itunes crashed when creating a library..

Not in the moment as the development has stucked for a while. There are new movements in the moment, a new Coder-Crew has been established and development will go on.

MuciKCube does what it has to do. Playing MP3's etc. with out bells and blown up stuff. Has very fast database, clean GUI and its very very fast beside the great sound. That' what i need.

yeah ive been lookin for a lighter player which supporst winamp dsps. ive found a couple, xmplay and vuplayer. maybe theres something else i missed.

no eye candy required, only good for kids.

if you want something without any bellz and plays mp3s theres always 1by1
