Under the Scanning targets tab there are red check marks for Drives A, C, D, E & F. As Drive D is rarely used I want to Deselect it from being scanned (at least not every time). The reason is that if drive D is scanned it adds about an hour and a half to the scan time. BTW, that drive was from a Win98 machine (FAT32 - ?) whilst drive C is XP (NTFS - right?). I can highlight the drive D "entry" but I need to know how to remove it.

Removin drive from scan in NOD32 works in the very same way as highlighting. Try to double click on the checked drive.

That worked for me, finally. I had to Stop the scan in order to access the "Scanning targets" window (just FYI for those who did not know). Thank you.
