The problem I am having is the "error loading C:\Windows\System32\Bridge.dll"" at startup.

My attempts to fixed were the following.
    1) I deleted the key from the registry manually. (didnt fix it, it came right back into the registry after reboot)
    2) I disabled the command in the msconfig --- startup (it works only for one time after reboot, then it comes right back the way it was).
    2) Spybot S&D - fixed it, but it became "unfixed" again after reboot.

I am running Windows XP Professional

    Following instructions from
    https://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?t=15913

I already had spybot S&D installed, as well as Ad-aware.

My ad-aware scan result comes clean. But my spybot results comes with the bridge.dll keys errors Along with the DSO Exploit (with 5 entries) (which I have read that it is normal, its just a microsoft bug and microsoft needs to release a patch for it in other for it to be fixed).

My Hijackthis Log is the following.
P.S - I don't have norton Installed on my machine, I have AVG installed.

    Hi Reliable,

Check the items listed below in HijackThis, close all windows except HijackThis and click Fix checked:

    R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = http://red.clientapps.yahoo.com/cus.../*http://www.yahoo.com/ext/search/search.html
    R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\SearchURL,(Default) = http://red.clientapps.yahoo.com/customize/ie/defaults/su/ymsgr6/*http://www.yahoo.com

    O2 - BHO: NAV Helper - {BDF3E430-B101-42AD-A544-FADC6B084872} - C:\Program Files\Norton AntiVirus\NavShExt.dll (file missing)
    O3 - Toolbar: Norton AntiVirus - {42CDD1BF-3FFB-4238-8AD1-7859DF00B1D6} - C:\Program Files\Norton AntiVirus\NavShExt.dll (file missing)
    O3 - Toolbar: (no name) - {ACB1E670-3217-45C4-A021-6B829A8A27CB} - (no file)
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [RunDLL] rundll32.exe "C:\WINDOWS\System32\bridge.dll",Load

    O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [WCPT] C:\WINDOWS\System32\wintsvtr.exe

Then reboot into safe mode and delete:
    C:\WINDOWS\System32\wintsvtr.exe

There are several ways to delete unchecked items from msconfig, ranging from registry cleaners to diving in the registry yourself.

Remind me when we are done to tell you how you can use HijackThis to do it.
I would like to see a clean log first though.

    Regards,

    Pieter

FGood news is the error is gone. Thanks for the help.

I am glad you will try helping me with the msconfig.

    I have one more question
    Aren't those associated with Norton?
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [ccApp] "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\ccApp.exe"
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [ccRegVfy] "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\ccRegVfy.exe"

    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [ccRegVfy] "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\ccRegVfy.exe"

If they are - Can I delete them?

Yes they are all Symantec/Norton entries.

Your log is clean. Now put a checkmark in front of all of them and click "Add checked to Ignore list"

Then put the checkmark before all the unchecked entries in Msconfig.
Do NOT reboot or Windows will try to start them.

Run another scan with HijackThis and fix the entries that will now show up.

Look in msconfig if they are all gone.

    Regards,

    Pieter

Let me rephrase my last post.

Run HijackThis and put a checkmark in front of all of the entries in that last log and click "Add checked to Ignore list"

Then put the checkmark before all the unchecked entries in Msconfig.
Do NOT reboot or Windows will try to start them.

Run another scan with HijackThis and fix the entries that will now show up.
    (The ones from msconfig)

After fixing those look in msconfig if they are all gone.

    Regards,

    Pieter

    Sorry,
I missunderstood your last post. I thought it was to get rid of the Norton keys in the hijack.

They are not in the hijackthis log.
