That was going to be my response. Layoffs and a new CEO. They probably let all of the talented folks go.

I think others have had similar problems. Have you tried Microsoft Answers?

Talented folks cost the most, know the most and have invested the most. Leaving a skeleton staff of competent individuals to carry the existing load is even worse. They eventually quit and join the competition or they leave the industry altogether taking their skill set out of the market. :'( A healthy tree does not have a great deal of dead wood on it. :(

Except for those rare exceptions, the "whatever issues" cycle thirty days and have been months and months in discovery, forensics and resolution. A few more days unpatched? So what.

Well, like some others here, for me Windows update issues have over the cyber-decades been so few and far between I can't even remember the last one.

But, a week IMHO is not enough. I wait 10 days while I watch my RSS feeds from The Registry, InfoWorld (just to name two) and sundry blogs of relevance for any reports.

It's not whether or not I'm having problems, but if others are having problems. And then choose what to avoid or not.

    Cheers.

Some people seemed to think it was a DNS problem IIRC, I really don't know if a viable solution was found..

Agreed, the talented folks were probably some of the first to go. I hope they get good jobs working for a competitor.

Good to know. It's a bit early yet to tell, but there are no signs of a borkfest yet.

I usually install updates on Tuesday as they come out. I make system image and update. Few reboots to see if all is well. If there's a problem I restore an image (have had to do it once) and wait until they fix it.

No problems for me, but for my friend running Windows 8.1, he said he couldn't install any of the updates without crashing.

Sometimes it seems or sounds like more of the issues are with Win 8.x. Interesting....

I usually wait 2 or 3 hours, check forums to see if any problems. This time over 20 updates,no problems on Win 7.
