Noticed a new Optional Update on my Win7 64-bit: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3102810

Installing and searching for updates is slow and high CPU usage occurs in Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2

I got it here too, hidden for now. Spent the weekend to catch up with my 4 months of updates, finally done.

What does MS mean by cumulative update?

MS: "An update rollup is delivered monthly and isn't the same as a "cumulative update." In other words, a May update rollup for Windows Server won't contain the prior April update. Instead, IT pros and consumer users have to install those earlier update rollups first. Moreover, each update rollup may be "chained" to other updates in a parent-and-child-dependency scheme."

I get the impression that MS is not too clear on their own definition of cumulative. Or is it me who does not understand?

Oh well, another Optional Update, and we know where they get filed, don't we? ;)

@emmjay That definition makes sense to me.

'''Windows 10 users will see an update available for download, but it doesn't appear to be the big Fall Update for the OS. Instead, it is the latest in a series of smaller cumulative update that are usually released to fix bugs.

The update has the support number of KB3105213, but at the moment there's no word on what it has been made to fix or improve. Microsoft is still expected to launch its larger Fall Update for Windows 10 on Thursday, November 12. along with the New Xbox One Experience for the Xbox One console and the official launch of Windows 10 Mobile"....http://www.windowscentral.com/new-c...ut?utm_source=everythingms&utm_medium=twitter

On Windows 7 I got 25 important and 1 optional update offered (incl. Office 2010). I installed all important except MSRT and one update without KB article. Also waiting for KB article about optional update. So far no problems and no autorun entries added :thumb:

Just got 20 here on Win 7, half of which were Office updates. I'm installing all critical/important updates now instead of waiting. If anything turns out to be bad, I can always revert to a prior image later and redo.

I've just made a new image, I'll still wait the obligatory 'quarantine fortnight'.

November all done here, and nothing exploded, so I think I'm good. Just did a Macrium image of it too. Hopefully I'm good till December... :)

And yet another alt thread title (not that we need one!) comes to mind... Macrium Tuesday!

I know this won't be too popular among our Windows 8 / 8.1 / 7 / Vista (ha!) / XP friends here, but I am sooo glad I'm using Win10 now and no longer have to pick and choose which updates to install and which not to.

I'm with you. I've seen some frightening threads on picking and choosing Windows Updates. What a waste of one's time!

That may be the case too but I know I'm much less annoyed by updates now that I have upgraded to Win10. ;)
