Boot Disk Doesn't Work

Better late than never but you might want to investigate purchasing a UPS (universal power supply) which would provide un-interrupted power for several minutes. Different models provide different amounts of time.

I use APC (American Power Corporation), Model UPS ES 750 which sells for about $119 and often on sale for much less. I have 4 hard drives and 3 burners and my unit provides about 45 minutes of backup time.

APC supplies the software and connects in various methods. My software connection is via usb and my system will initiate a normal shutdown after 30 minutes of lost power or however you have the options set.

Of course, if the power surge is excessive, nothing will save your computer but for those short term power outages, the UPS can prevent a lot of grief.
