For integration with downloaders and similar tools, please use the ashQuick.exe tool that's included in the avast directory. The syntax is very simple - basically just

    ashQuick.exe <path-to-scan>

If there's no virus, it doesn't display any UI and just finishes (useful for integration). If it finds something, it pops up a dialog.

    Thanks
    Vlk

I have a question VLK. In 5.0 there was a folder created in my recovery D: drive for the sandbox contents. You stated that would be fixed with 5.1 and I assumed with 6.0. It isnt. I uninstalled 6 today and check my D: drive and it is still there.:cautious:

I´m very interested in that feature!
Is necessary to place some parameter in order to Avast delete a found virus?
Thats because the last time i´ve tried it, Avast 5 shows the pop up but doesn´t do nothing.
    thanks!

I use Free Download Manager. Could you give an example of what the command line would look like with ashQuick.exe?
    Thanks

WebRep is planned for Chhrome. When it will be released is still not known, but it will be released. IE9 is not released yet so support for it is not yet available.

As for the Chrome bugs inside sandbox, i'm not aware of any. Can you be a bit more specific? If possible, try addressing the issue on avast! Forum where it might get more attention from developers.

I have reduced my security programs to Avast6 IS only and it works remarkable well in every aspect. The new safe zone is perfect when banking and is the best I've ever tried. Add to that all other new functions, sandbox/autosandbox and weprep (soon to be fixed for chrome)...Absolutely top notch for AIS. It's my keeper.
The only thing I run apart from this is AdMuncher. Cannot see a need for anything else.

I think they shouldn't release RC and Final in the same day.. too much things to fix right now.

I have no experience with version 5, but for the time I had AIS 6 installed I noticed no system impact whatsoever. It proved to be very light.

I uninstalled due to it being buggy at the moment and belief that some features are only half finished and not offering their stated level of protection.

I'm undecided whether I'll wait to see if they improve or request a refund.

I see in the avast forums that there are some instances with Windows 7x32, XP x64 and Windows 7 x64. Any ideas..?

Yep. I did (assuming you're talking about definition updates). I had to uninstall and reinstall to get it working again.

I posted as much under "ShaneARay" over there.

This is one of the reasons I lost confidence in the program. If the program can't update its definitions properly without reinstalling...what else is wrong?

    For what it's worth...

W7 Home Premium, x64 SP1 here, and avast!6 has been running flawless for me. It's also running great on my XP x32 SP3 test rig as well. No rush here.

I usually don't complain much on forums, but here's another instance of not getting what I thought I was getting with my Avast purchase (from the Avast forums):

    http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=73015.0

So, add Script Shield to the "work in progress" list.

Based on what I've read the last few days or so (and my experience with the program thus far), I'd recommend anyone stay clear of purchasing pro and IS...It seems we're paying to be beta testers.

    My opinion of course...

Are you sure it's triggered by Firefox? Script shield also scans local scripts.
