Back up will not bootup

I have just downloaded Paragon Image Backup for Windows 8 and I backed up my hard drive on a separate external hard drive, but when I went to restore my computer after a hard drive malfunction I had problems. The transfer to the new hard drive went right to the end without any problems. The program told me the transfer was successful. When I installed the new hard drive it will not boot up. I tried on three occasions to restore by starting all over but the same thing happens every time. I am running windows 8 64 bit on desktop HP pavilion.
Can anyone help me please.

ps. When I checked the new hard drive all the programs were there.
