The creation of a new scaninfo(125*).tmp file every day? https://www.wilderssecurity.com/showpost.php?p=2345283&postcount=1370 *Numbering varies
It is still not processing 100 % of free users requests....no need to test for now. But last year I reported like 25 fresh samples to Stefan, he processed them with APC and like 23/25 got detected.
Hi, Quick question: during install, you can choose to install the real time protection component. So if you don't install this, can you only scan on demand?
Good Evening! Any update as to whether the Boot Up issue with Windows Firewall is being remedied. It took on my machine over a minute to boot up and even then I was sometimes given the message stating Windows Firewall disabled. I of course uninstalled Avira...and once the issue as been resolved I'll consider returning. Sincerely...Securon
im now waiting yet again with new 3pc lic's i just bought ticking away. had i know the problem was this bad i would have not activated them yet. i really want to run it and ill re-install when fixed. just stinks this is the second time i bought lic's and they ticked away while i could not use them. PLEASE get this worked out!!!!
Agreed. This kind of thing is a fatal flaw in the product. Avira - once it loads, is exceptionally light on resources, and process launches so much so it's really not even there. But this launch drag nonsense absolutely kills it for so many people.
Good Afternoon! Anon! Is the update at the moment for Beta use only...Or has a fix been given to remedy the Windows Firewall Problem? Sincerely...Securon
With build 14.0.3.350, seems that another bug (C:\ProgramData\Avira\AntiVir Desktop\TEMP => multiple "scaninfo.tmp" files in the Avira TEMP folder) fixed too.
Good Morning! As of last night the start-up situation still hasn't been rectified. I can wait for Avira to get it's act together. Sincerely...Securon
Indeed, even with tweaks, it's slow starting up. Have reverted my home PC's to bullguard until Avira gets their act together.
Avira Goes ‘All In’ on Free Antivirus Tettnang, Germany --- March 5, 2014 http://www.avira.com/en/press-details/nid/923/news/avira-free-antivirus-all-in .
I don't know what they mean by "ALL IN",because Avira free still force you to install the toolbar if you want Web protection.
"Security expert Avira announced today that every user of its free antivirus software will soon enjoy the best detection, performance enhancements and security features, including Avira Protection Cloud and Avira Browser Safety. ". I guess it's not yet fully implemented....
I guess not,but did you take a look at the screenshot i posted? As far as i know, the toolbar is strictly related to the Web protection. Therefore,if they say no toolbars, what does this mean?Web protection for the free users or not?
http://www.avira.com/en/press-details/nid/923/news/avira-free-antivirus-all-in This news released yesterday mention "Previously only available to premium users, Avira Protection Cloud (APC) is cloud-based technology that powers Avira’s top-scoring results in malware detection tests such as AV-Test and AV Comparatives; it is used to detect and thwart zero-day attacks. The goal of APC, which will be rolled out to all free users over the next three months, is to check only unknown, new programs that come from potential dangerous sources. This way, the system is protected against the latest threats, even between regular product updates. Avira Browser Safety is a feature that contains both Website Safety Advisor and Browser Tracking Blocker." And I think the Web Shield in the premium version will not be there in the free version. But Web protection will be provided through Avira Browser Safety.
