I just got this e-mail from Avira. Looks like the beta for the Security Suite will be out March 27, 2007.................

    Hello Graystoke,

Probably from Monday 27th of March the Avira Premium Security Suite will be available as a beta test version for Microsoft Windows Vista.

The Avira Premium Security Suite is a complete security solution for single users and SOHO companies. The product detects and removes all kinds of viruses and malware through its On-Demand and On-Access scanner, provides protection for incoming POP3 based email traffic through its MailGuard module and and offers control for all in- and outgoing internet traffice through the integrated personal firewall.
In this present version the virus and malware detection has been enhanced so that it can now also detect and remove rootkits. A proactive spam- and phishing email detection has been added to the MailGuard.
Microsoft Windows Vista is supported in all available 32 bit versions as well as the Microsoft Windows XP x64 edition.

    The Avira Team

    Looks good. :)

EDIT........Ooops. I just saw trjam's post mentioning the Avira Security Suite beta release. Sorry for the duplicate.

    :D Hello :D

LMAO. I had that experience with AShampoo (when I was trying their free firewall). They were VERY persistent... I began to wonder if I should start to use anti-spam, but I finally managed to cancel all subscriptions on their site. BTW, eager to see improvements on Avira's firewall...

dont need it, got my drweb spam ... which is gooooooood!!!

also, i am now using firefox, i jumped ship from IE7 just for a change, not because of anything else, i like the add-on where you can view pages in an IE tab in firefox, good for certain sites that struggle on firefox.

    --------
to keep OT, lets hope avira add some big improvements :D

Hmm. I don't consider this notice from Avira, spam. Far from it. The only time I receive an e-mail from them, is when they have a beta for testing. Other than that, I don't hear from them. I was a beta tester for their security suite, so I guess I'm on the list. Getting info about a new beta from Avira doesn't bother me at all. I consider Avira very reputable. You want spam, try Panda.

    Hi trjam

I see that you are the AVIRA specialist.
What do you expect when it will be released?

You have to request in under My products under beta test. Once approved you will ge a email and it will then be under downloads. I wont be able to install for a few hours due to being at work.

once approved, make sure you download the beta key to a seperate file. You will have to point to that file during installation. Any issues, let me know. Also please report all problems in the beta forum, not the support forums.

    Hello!

I dont know whats up with my laptop and Avira products.

I installed Avira Suite for Vista and I can not connect to internet.

I had the same problem last time too, when I installed beta suite for XP.

I have had NO problems with other suites or firewalls. I even reinstalled few times, but no luck. Well, ill stop testing at this phase.:D I am too lazy to start posting my computer/software etc specs to beta forum. I just find Avira's firewall (driver?) acting very crazy indeed. o_O

    regards,

    Technic

I believe this is not necessary. I uninstalled Avira Beta Suite for Vista and everything is back to normal.

Its a pity though that I can not test this suite.

So far, so good for me. Haven't encountered any errors with the beta. So far, it's running like a release candidate.

Kudos to Avira. Up and running and antispam and rootkit detection are great. Just as fast as it always was. Good work folks.:thumb:
