Thanks to the OP for posting this. I renewed Avira which was soon going to expire. When they raised their prices I had decided to let it go but this was a good deal.

I have a bit less than a year left on my present license for Avira Premium. I would like to extend that license another year at the $17.56 price, but I'm not sure HOW to do that.

I hesitate to use the Cnet link to buy a license because I am afraid it will give me a NEW license, whereas I want an extension to my existing license.

Any guidance would be muchly appreciated.

I can only speak from personal experience but the Cnet license was added to my remaining license.

Its 29.99 for me from their website. :'(

Does this license last for one year from the time of purchase or activation?

    Thanks in advance.

It must be country related then the difference in price. I live in Seoul therefore this could be a special discount for the Korean market. I would also like to know whether buying a license it would extend the current one or disregard it (my license expires in October)

Ive not heard anything good about their firewall either.

It would be a new license for me. For anyone that has purchased this, I'm still interested in finding out if the one year starts from date of purchase or date of activation.

    Cheers.

    Hi,

The duration counting of an Avira license is from the date of activation and not the date of purchase. You can activate it whenever you want because a license is not for a unique version.

If you buy another license (license B) before the one you currently use (license A) expires, license B is extended from the time of the expiration and not the date of purchase.

Example : Your current 1 year license A will expire on 19th July 2011. You decide to buy another 1 year license B on 30th May 2011 because of a great deal.
If you extend license A with license B on 31th May 2011 for example, your license will expire on 19th July 2012 and not 31th May 2012.

Hope all is fine now. ;)

I'm pleased to confirm that buying a license with discount or other long before my expiration date has worked perfectly as by opening the Avira GUI one can select "license management" from the help menu, and enter the new activation code in "Activate Product" box. It automatically updates your existing key. These instructions are received anyway just after your online payment.

THANKS Osaban. Your guidance (complete with screenshot) worked great! :thumb:

My license is now extended to March 2013 (if I live that long, & if Shiloh tarries).

You just missed it. They had a 35% off deal on the AV and Suite that ended May 1st. Thats when I extended my Premium license...
