Yesterday I set up AVG free for a friend. When it does the weekly scan, the only indication is it running is a minor change in the tray icon. Is there a way to make it pop up a message so the user knows it is running? She is not the most savvy user.

    Thanks

How do I enable that flashing? It is not doing it now. I didn't see anything like that in the options.

I'm looking to enable that for scheduled scans. Right now the only indication is a small hard to see "Play" type arrow appears on the icon.

right the round flash tells you that avg is updating. the small play arrow tells you that AVG is scanning.

My OP wasn't clear. I need a more in your face indication that scanning is taking place so a user who is not savvy enough to know why the computer is running slow can pause it if they want to use the computer. On an old computer it slows up the computer too much when a scan is taking place.

If AVG can't be set to do that, do any of the other free av's have that?

    Thanks
