I find ram usage to be higher with this latest build. Seems to hover around 30meg.

    And new in build 6.0.1279:
    - Solved a compatibility problem with QQ
    - Solved a compatibility problem with certain Steam-based games
    - Script Shield: Implemented a scanning cache which should prevent redundant/repetitive scans

    - Web Shield: scanning of all processes can now be disabled in shield's Expert Settings

When will be released a true behavior shield?

for example, an application is running and it has performed the following actions: 1) it is copied everywhere with random names
    2)startup keys modified
3)task manager and registry tools disabled
    4)autorun.inf created

then the behavior shield must block the application and inform it has worm-like activity.

Is it not available through the program updater? Does not seem to pick anything up when I try.

It's a beta, so only if you intentionally installed a beta one will you receive beta updates through the updater.

It's official, but there was a bug in the free version only which made them delay the release. On their forums VLK said the delay would last 1-2 hours so if you're unable to get it today, well, I dunno - business is simply tricky. :)

    avast! v.6.0.1352 BETA Released
    11.12.2011

    What's New:
    • Script Shield now works with Google Chrome, all versions of Firefox and Acrobat Reader
    • Improvements in WebRep plugins (especially IE)
    • Stability improvements in aswSP.sys and the avast! sandbox
    • File system shield: improved on-close scanning
    • avast! Internet Security: new antispam engine
    • Web Shield and Script Shield: more options in the UI

This is technically identical to the previous beta build (6.0.1351) but the updater is now fixed. This means two things: a) you can update use the 6.0.1352 installer to do an update from any previous build (without losing your settings), and b) you will stay on the beta stream and so won't be offered "downgrade" to the previous official build (1289) anymore.

I apologize for the problems the previous beta might have caused

    It's been retracted -awaiting revision.
"Edit Nov 20: we're now in the process of finalizing this beta build. Please stand by, a new version will be posted in the next 24 hours." -Vlk

Dare I say, a possible case of Premature Evaluation?

He may mean the 'BSOD baddie' is in 6.0.1289 and he wants us to give the beta as hard a time as is possible in order to expose it if it's still there.

no the BSOD baddie was introduced in recently 135x betas and that's why i said the bug must die before it gets to final version

hence why i have the beta and uploaded it to avast! ...

or You suggest i keep that for myself? :) o_O
