They do give you the option to deselect Google Chrome through the installer.

As far as it auto installing with each update, it's never happened to me.

 

I cant say that happened to me either when i used it.

Seeing as google was mentioned.
Open the avast interface and hover your mouse over the scriptshield icon and i noticed an awful lot of google stuff being stopped there.

 

It's not being STOPPED, it's just being scanned. Considering that Google has a lot of code embedded in a lot of webpages (analytics mostly) i'm not surprised at all to see it a lot. Also, you're making judgements based on completely wrong info...

 

Well i use noscript but this is besides the point.
How do avast users configure the scriptshield to stop this google sludge.?

 

most of the google code is also used to decide the payments to website operators/blog owners so i wouldn't call it useless.as @RejZoR mentioned above scriptshield is there to scan the script not stop them like noscript.most users don't want the hassle of learning noscript to properly configure it to run their favourite websites in fully functional manner some of which may be running 50+ scripts.
