Yes, but thanks to this exclusivity, Script Shield and part of the Sandbox have moved to Free edition. So in theory, if they later on come up with a new important feature that could be a reason to sell paid versions, they might as well shift SafeZone to a free version. I'm not promising anything, i'm just thinking out loud. I mean we also thought Script Shield will remain a paid only feature and here we have it. So everything is possible.

is more fast and light? and the resident shield?

outside the new feature in the free version

is the v6 notable more fast and light then v5 ?

and the resident shield behavior about ->file to open is like v5 (files in the moment they are opened for example *.doc files)
or do the alwil team improve it?
in the v5 avast opens jpg , tiff , camera raw files , dng and lots of innocuous files

do they design resident shield -> file to open (not execute file) with a list (editable) with the dangrous files?

    thanks

v5 is already probably the fastest
    v6 is also same...maybe a tad faster

compared to other av's out there..it is the fatest and the lightest i have tried
i had never used v4 so cant comment on that but all the other suites/av's i have used avast is the best performance wise

as for ur other doubt somebody else might be able to help

There is not much difference between avast! 5 and avast! 6. Version 6 was slightly accelerated but most probably won't notice it. Between 4.8 and 5 and 6, it's like day and night really. Even on old systems. On high end ones i can't really notice i use antivirus. Just make sure you make a full system scan the first time you install it (and after it's updated). This way you cache stuff and that's what it makes it so fast. Without trading off any security.

on a older system (old celeron 1.6 laptop) v6 is for sure faster than v5 was. on a current hardware system really almost no difference imo

Same observation here. Super fast on 1.86 GHz Celeron single core and 2 GB DDR2 RAM.

Thisi s one beta that has progressed very well. I have to admit that Avast knows how to bring a product out that only needs minor tweaking. Good work guys.:thumb:

    Updating now :D

    NEW BETA RELEASE 6.0.986

    What's new in this beta:
pretty much all the bugs from the previous beta builds should be solved now, with the following exceptions:
    - Firewall: uTorrent conflict not yet fully resolved
    - Firewall: packet rules for applications still don't support ASK and AUTO-DECIDE actions properly.
    - Incorrect context-menu handling in SafeZone
    - Other small visual issues in SafeZone

Next to the additional changes mentioned in the previous posts, users in the Avast forum also mentioned a few more:
*Sidebar gadget can be now resized
    *New behavioral shield option: Auto-decide
*Minor UI improvements (a few color changes)

Just tried it out, works great. The sandbox has better/more advanced settings like blocking screen capture etc. The new SafeZone seems light and fast, though for now all you can do is browse in the SafeZone browser(based on Chromium.)
    Screen from SafeZone:

Actually when the avast! 6 will be released, you won't be able to make a screenshot of the SafeZone. At the moment it's still a bit buggy.
