AV databases

    http://www.f-secure.com/2007/2/

    number of malware that AV must detect (in f-secure case) is now 500,000 acording to upper link.

    i want to ask, is that really number of malware threats or not. i mean, they surely detect 500,000 malware-files but does every signature in AV database means 1 unique malware?

    There can be generic signatures that cover hundreds or thousands of similar malware.
