Can't complain about Avira's results both for file detection and FPs, although it had been marginally better in the past for this kind of test. Kaspersky remains the king for now. Ahnlab has had miserable results for a long while, and it is still the most trusted AV in Korea, go figure...

According to what i see, the three of them blocked 99.8% with Emsisoft and Kaspersky having an 0.01% advantage because due to user decision while Avira only has 99.8%.

If you read the whole thread, AV Comparatives corrected the figures, as they originally read they way it is in my post: see post #21 #27 #28

There are effective products with "mediocre" file detection (Eset, Avira in this test) and horrible ones with an "excellent" detection rate (McAfee until recently, G-Data since the 2014 version, old Avira). I'd take the real world results over file detection rate any day.

Panda Cloud (Free) and Qihoo (Free) more than enough for any user.

OK, I'll forgive you, but as a penance you'll have to write down a hundred times "Avira is the best"!

Does Avira Free have the same detection as Avira Internet Security? Then it would be one of the best free AV beside Bitdefender without nag screens. ;)

    What about Avira (Free), too?

Yes, I didn't mention it because I saw that the version tested was the paid one, but then someone said that the av engine and definitions are the same....

The important thing was the addition of APC to the free version of Avira. Without it, its result would probably be worse than the paid version, despite the same engine and definitions.
