Got an "Expires in 6 days" warning on boot today, W2kServer US. Hmm, Beta 2 is only a week or so old. Went to the eu site and redownloaded out of curiosity. Overlay install offered only "repair or uninstall," so I bailed out. Doing a DIR on the installer files, I found:

    Microsoft Windows 2000 [Version 5.00.2195]
Volume in drive D is OLDE
    Volume Serial Number is 502B-78C8

    Directory of D:\DOWNLOAD

    08/30/2007 08:29a 15,283,200 ea_nt32b_ENU.msi
    08/25/2007 10:23a 15,291,392 ea_nt32_ENU.msi
    2 File(s) 30,574,592 bytes
    0 Dir(s) 12,530,409,472 bytes free

    My wild theories for today.....

    1. Euro date misparsing on a Yank machine

    2. There's another refresh coming soon.

    But why the byte diff?

It was a problem with the updating, same thing happened with the security suite. Just update to the latest, restart your PC and all should be fine.

Ah yes, I notice the errmsg in the System event log that the "Eset service failed to start." It didn't, but it apparently went past the 20 sec. timeout that gets NT excited. It also updated seemingly properly.

Perhaps some startup timing/priority needs adjustment? This is a dual 800MHz PIII, very lightly loaded.
