audio-visual tutorials to use laptops and pda

hi out there in cyberland ( i hope good ol snowbound is listening).

i am a novice and limited to the pc.

i need to purchase a laptop and pda.

wrt laptops i need a brand with good customer service..homegrown..not outsourced (where they hang up on u when the going gets tough).
i heard that TOSHIBA AND IBM are in this ballpark.

what i really would like to bring me up to speed is good audio-visual
tutorials +/or a proficient + relativelly inexpensive tutor in the queens,new
york area. i simply dont have the time to read the literature.
