Has the issue of trying to safely remove hardware (USB keys in my case) by right clicking on the Add/Remove hardware icon down in the right hand corner of your screen by your clock in XP (bug occurs in both XP Home and Pro f.y.i., not sure about Vista) and getting a Windows exception ("An exception occured while trying to run shell32.dll control_rundll hotplug.dll.") been fixed yet? Any feedback from Acronis?

It appears I can not add to the the original thread on this issue because it is too old, how nice...

Shiebar had the only working solution that I know of:
There's no patch that I know of. Just right click My Computer and select Properties, select Hardware, Device manager, select View, select View Hidden Devices, and then for each Genric-volume entry under Storage Volumes, right click and select update and let windows try to find a better driver for the Generic volume. If windows says it doesn't a better driver, that's okay, but it will probably update at least one of the entries. Then close down the device manager and reboot. Prob should be gone.

I had to revisit this thread today to restore an image on my laptop. Then I was greeted by this error. Ahhhh, forgot the quality of Acronis products...

    Hello chaosdivine,

Thank you for using Acronis True Image

Please uninstall the program, follow the workaround provided and install the latest build of Acronis True image 11 Home. The issue will not be reproduced.

    Thank you.
