my impresion of this aproach is not gay as you mention before because appranger is a very unique sandbox which has the ability to scan your already infected machine which i already tried againts couple of nasty malwares and remove them very easily :D with no problem ;)

for scanning malware and remover them i never gonna put my finger on appranger as any solution lol , i will give this job to big brothers (avira , nod32, kaspersky).
so appranger should handle other fields in security in order to be profit and stay alive hehe.
as far as i see all is big mysterious with it , features that show NO activity(can i trust themo_O ) and "blocked" item with out any description :thumbd:

i don't much trust this kinda of fog fag approach

I don't necessarily disagree with your findings, I'm just questioning your use of diction in presenting them. This is the second time you used questionable words (gay and fag) in the presentation of your findings and I'm wondering why. One has nothing to do with the other and inevitably will make people value your opinions less.

I used AR awhile ago. I agree with demoneye to an extent, that there should be notifications, 'internet explorer is now isolated/sandboxed' when say internet explorer is run, but if the program does in fact work as described, then it's quite versatile software.

It does have logging features, from what I recall, so a user can delve in what actions were taking place.

I agree with that. It's very hard to know that it is doing anything at all.

I'm no tester, but I'd like to see programs like AppRanger (and even Zemana AntiLogger) tested by some experienced users here.

I know many of us are short on time, but any testing would be appreciated! :D

    Hey jmonge,

Maybe you can talk the AppRanger developer into checking out the Wilders forum on this subject and maybe giving us some input on these questions?:)

    Hi Guys,

    Jay from AppRanger here.

    Demoneye,

If you are so inclined to think that malware removal should be left to 'big brothers', then what are you doing on this forum? We should all just go home, right?

Since that is not the case and we have been cleaning enough infected networks where your 'big brothers' were ineffective. Right now we are helping a Fortune 500 company that has kicked out two of even 'bigger brothers'. Send me a PM and I will forward couple of case studies to you.

Having said that, here is why AppRanger cleans better than most (or all) anti-virus/malware products. After authenticating good applications and identifying bad ones, we employ a "malware freeze" method that neutralizes the race condition many malware create to keep themselves alive. This method worked extremely well against Conficker.

AppRanger's has its weak points. Our database is not as comprehensive, and that is being addressed. We are a small company afterall.

However, if you know what you are doing this weakness is not that important and you can remove pretty much any malware using AppRanger.

Lastly, IMHO, there is going to be a lot of innovation in security in near future. While you may think that the 'big boys' have it all wrapped up, we all are seeing malware that none of the current products can clean (not even AppRanger...yet, but improvements are on the way).

I will post separately about AppRanger sandboxes.

    Best,
    Jay

    :D

True innovation is not a quality solely owned by large companis, often maverick approaches offer new solutions

I tried that and Chrome did not show up, neither did Opera. I followed their paths but the .exe does not show up. What am I doing wrong? Have you added a browser besides FF and IE?
