    Well, being a long time PC/Windows user, I would agree with Apples plan to keep it's OS closed.
    Microsoft's whole plan with Windows was to make all applications similar to reduce the learning curve. Right out of the oven, the software developers started customizing their software making them unique. Today there is very little commonality between Windows applications.
    Maybe Apple will be more successful.

    As usual there are upsides and downsides. The price users pay for Apples' "consistency" is literally a lot more money. I much prefer the more affordable and flexible Windows and Android OSs.
