Just for fun tried google packs Spyware Doctor + Antivirus starter edition.

Way back when I had a norton + spyware doctor + webwasher lisence (my first PC), it was heavy. I am surpirsed how light it is running.

    Anyone using it on Wilders?

I've not tried it for a few years due to the latency you described, interesting if they've lightened it up since the detection capability was decent if memory serves me.I still have 6 months left of a year's promo licence I got, might just give it another run.

What is the different between the starter edition and the antivirus? Now that the AV contains an Antispyware database and possibly uses the Norton engine why use the google edition?

Since v.7, the same >90MB Symantec-architecture database is now used the for all products here.
How effectively that database is used varies depending on the features of each product.

    Kees and others,

always known as being 'heavy' and a f/p generator - how is that now (afraid I can't look at it myself at the moment.)

I enable it once a month for a quick scan (which always detects some tracking cookies). With AV suite these day I don't really need Antispyware real-time protection anymore.

Strangely the update is got each time I reopened the app. Now it's been over 70MB, even worse the iUpdater doesn't support resume.
