while surfing i found somewhere that kis7 is more resource hog than kis 6 is that true? are they made any change in kis 7 apart from proactive detection?
i really like to know this coz i liked kis 7 when i tested it.

You've tried it and liked it, it worked o.k for you, why bother with negative stuff written "somewhere" on the internet? You said you liked it, and that's what's important.

    :thumb: Yep agree...

If you look to Kaspersky forum and all the problems been raised there I would never use Kaspersky... the same with most support forums...
But the reality is that you need to try it yourself and if it works for you and you like it... why not suing it?

    Cheers,
    Fax

If you tried it and liked it, then why not use it? I don't worry about statements as to some application being a resource hog. Unless it slows my machine notideabaly I don't much care what resources it takes.
While I have not tried KAV7, I did not find V6 so.

    Regards,
    Jerry

If you can get 7.0.120, you will change your mind.

What 120. Where did you get a builid 120. The latest version is build 119.

Note. If you got it from any place other than Kaspersky site, or forum, please do not post the link. It most likely is not a good site.

You can find it on www.computerbase.de, for example, which is a regular site. Don't know where they got it from.

It's not a released build.....it's a testbuild, so i wouldn't go and install it on a pc you depend on unless you're the adventurous type.

    To the OP

7.0.0.119 is noticeably lighter for most users.

Perhaps it's time to get the licenses for Kav out of the desk draw.

    1)new user interface
2)parental controls (if you need them)
    3)heuristic analyzer (emulator)
3)better handling of leaktests (+improved PDM)
4)better rootkit detection through a low level scan
    5)privacy controls
    6)bugsfixes
7)newsagent (which can display new builds and other news)

    so basically in short,

    new heuristics and new GUI.

good job its a free upgrade, but one that people should take for sure.

The big difference is the new heuristic engine, but according to Kaspersky version 7 will also have greatly improved anti-rootkit ability - both to prevent rootkit installation and also to detect active rootkit hidden processes in memory. In particular KAV7 has new abilities to detect and remove hidden files on disc.

Other improvements include the ability to block all leaktests (though not by default - you have to configure it correctly) including BITStester, Breakout (1 & 2), CPILSuite3, DNStester, OSfwbypass and Surfer; all of which KAV6 fails (though interestingly Matousec claims KAV7 fails OSfwbypass - maybe Kaspersky intend to tweak KAV7 to deal with this?)

KAV7 will also have improved anti-keylogger ability and should pass the AKLT test.

There is also improved ability to prevent hidden driver installation.

Finally there is better self protection (preventing change of permissions on KAV folders).

So, this is why I say if you can find it, it is from kaspersky for sure, and it will different from final release to public forever. If you noticed, when kav5 release out, there is also a special version.

This build will not release out, but I can't say it is better than the final release version.

7.0.0.119 is much heavier than 6, if you test it with an old computer like me,
    C900, 256RAM
