As was I when reading the results. :doubt:

I am trialling Giant Anti-Spyware now and so far am impressed with it.

It's scores certainly reflect what I 'feel' [no tests, just general browsing with it's Active RTM on and all others RTMs off apart from AV/AT] and nothing untoward has happened so far.

    Cheers, TAS.

I think one of the most important part to read is the disclaimer. It sure would have been nice to see Spybot do better, but one should also consider these other points made by Mr. Howes...

"*The test results reported here constitute but a one test with a single collection of spyware and adware programs. The anti-spyware scanners tested here may perform differently with other collections of spyware and adware.
*The tests results report only actual removals of a select number of "critical" files and Registry keys, and thus do not give a complete account of the removals performed by any of the anti-spyware scanners tested.
*No single anti-spyware scanner removes everything. Even the best-performing anti-spyware scanner in these tests missed fully one quarter of the "critical" files and Registry entries."

That is true Rerun2, that disclaimer, but having a quarter missed is better than half or 2/3 missed. It seems that all software was affected by the tests at one point or another and in the case of spyware, it's a much more difficult task to tag the lot for sure, but you do have a point. :) That's why I am trialling it.

Still running fine here, no hiccups, stable, etc.

I actually ventured to [ gasp, shock, horror] some unsavoury sites, Crack/Warez/Porn [purely for research :) had to uncheck a darn lot from my Hosts files, lol] with no probs.

I even tried dling some porn cracks, with no issues until KAV squeeled its heart out on a couple. :) ~good boy~

Checking Blocked Events it stopped 2 BHO's and 1 browser hijack attemtp. :)

Unfortunately, I cleared it and cannot show screenie :(

Also, if you read above, you will see where I had trouble dl'ing it and sent email to company.

I received a reply and they gave a direct link for me to dl, but I had already sorted the problem. I replied back telling them and would you believe, it's working fine with both browsers and putting my country in the field, which I believe was the cause.

    Here is reply:

    Hi,

That reply was in around the 10-15 hour mark, so pretty good. I've only just got around to posting it now.

    Cheers, TAS

Just a short note to say I've not heard back from support at Registry Mechanic. If I do, I will post back but it seems unlikely I will get a reply now. (Didn't want you to think I was just leaving the matter up in the air).

Are the tests legit? how many times have you seen a site comparing software that ends up with biased veiws? an alful lot of web reviews/tests are nothing more than paid adverts. remember Spybot S&D is one of the oldest and most respected anti spyware programs along with ADaware.

I quite agree....and for those individuals that do not visit other Security\Privacy Forums and stay up on the latest news....they would not be aware of the dedication\contributions Eric Howes gives. However.....if they would simply take a look at the....Background & Bio ....they might not be questioning whether the tests are legit.

BTW....Wilders also does not give out Privacy Expert tags to just anybody....and in the case of Eric Howes(eburger68)....I'm sure they hesitated about a minute before giving him that distinguished tag.

Yep... more like a 10 second count though Bubba. :)

Very trusted source Sweetie(*)(*) and no reason to doubt at all, but I understand and certainly agree with your questioning if you have not heard of Eric, and by all the "thanks Eric" posts in here and the other thread you can see that he's highly thought of. :)

    Cheers, TAS
