For some reason, the update balloon showing that update has been successful has disappeared. Happened for a few times in a row already.

Right click on the start button, properties. Choose taskbar, uncheck hide inactive icons.
I prefer to autohide the taskbar and leave the icons alone. The bubble works fine here with those settings.

If you hover you mouse pointer over the NOD tray icon, does a little window show up?

It is also worth asking if you used a programme such as XPAntispy, as in programmes such as these you can turn off 'bubble pop ups' and the like.
But in saying that I am in the exact same situation and I have not run such a programme, I have the icon on 'always show' but no pop up display, I get the email pop up (when downloading a biggie!) but no other pop up window appears.

Yea same. No other programs that should block the balloon..and yes, when I hover my mouse on NOD32 tray icon, it will say something like "NOD32 antivirus system | Version of signatures: 1.1160 (20050701)"

And what about other programs? If you use Windows XP SP2, you can try this experiment. Disable AMON for a moment, then Security Center should show you a balloon informing you about disabled antivirus protection. If balloon is not showed you have balloons disabled. And don't forget to enable AMON:)

From what I remember, Marcos stated that the balloon's function was governed by Windows, and that any issue was a Windows issue.

    Cheers :D

If you get tweakui from the MS powertoys site it will let you enable or disable balloon messages, although can't see why you would want them as they will then pop up wherever you place your mouse..... ;)

Well, as long it works and updates fine, I will leave it at that. ;)

    Hi CyberMew:

If NOD32 is set to Silent mode in the NOD32 System Tools/NOD32 System Setup - Setup, then the balloon will not appear (in addition to the other reasons mentioned). ;)
