In the no good deed goes unpunished category...

I am "cleaning up" a friends laptop. I purchased and installed NOD32 (not trial version) with apparent success but I can't get it to start to do a scan. Shows in system tray very briefly then disappears, double clicking icon on desktop does nothing.

    Tried Safe-Mode same results.

Maybe this thing is more of a mess than I thought. Can't get simple things like Spybot to run either.

My first thought is to create a disk from which I could scan? Is that possible with NOD32.

System is WinXP Home Edition. Thanks in advance for ANY suggestions!

Try a Nod32 scan in safe mode. Also scan the pc with HijackThis.

Do you mean that you are unable to run nod32.exe or that the control center does not show up at all?
