Advice on tunnelling

Hey everyone,

I've got a need to secure traffic between a client and a server application on the same network. I have control over both the client and the server machines, and I can install any software I need. Unfortunately, the client and server have no support for SSL or encrypting the data that is sent.

I imagine that I would need to setup some tunneling software on both ends, and have the client and server connect to localhost in order to send/receive data. The client is on a windows box and the server is running RHEL5. Does anyone have any experience doing this? What software will I need to accomplish this task?
