I've been trying Adguard and just can't get my head around how you use it with it's browser extension. Rather than use the assistant the documentation says you can just seamlessly use the browser extension. Do you just have to install it? Do you enable or not the filters in the extension, do you disable the assistant in the settings? I just find the whole application too complex, confusing and cannot seem to find any simple documentation. Am I missing something obvious?
Adblock Plus is very very slow. But how can uBlock not work as well as Adblock? uBlock you can select the SAME databases! Even Adguard uses Adblock databases.
Just disable Assistant and install Adguard extension for you browser. You don't need to change extension in settings if you use it along with Adguard for PC or Mac. Some information about the integration: https://blog.adguard.com/en/adguard-news/new-version-browser-extension-adguard-1-0-3-8.html
I have AFW with a lot of filters. I disabled the Assistant and installed the AG Chrome extension and turned off all the filters that i already use in AFW. Is this how it works if you have both AFW and AG Extension.
Thanks, still confused (as is Dragon1952 above) on if filters should be set in the app, extension or both.
Any chance you are gonna start a promo/discount soon? I liked it - lighter then before, does the job very well but kinda pricey at the moment for me. Checked a couple sites but no discount/promo codes were available. I found a "6 month trial" version on some shady looking Russian website but it was really.. shady.
@avatar Would it be possible to add some annotations (green, yellow and red, something like WOT has) to Google search results? It would be cool to know which search results are malicious. Adguard checks websites (by means of malware and phishing protection) so it shouldn't be impossible, imo.
When I go to outlook.com on internet explorer 11 windows 8.1 I can not open mails or click anything only when I exit AdGuard and refresh the page I able to open mails and folders on my outlook.com account
https://www.stream.cz identified Adguard. There is yellow stripe on top where is written: "It seems that you have turned Adblock or other ad blocking tool. Please note that this site may not work properly. If you do encounter problems, try to disable ad blocking tool and refresh the site." EDIT: Enabling Anti-Adblock Killer/Reek removed the warning. Problem solved!
My previous post brought me to ponder which filters Adguard users have enabled. I have all Adguard filters except Japanese, from EasyList I have my native language filter and from Other I have Adblock Warning Removal List, Malware Domains and Anti-Adblock Killer. I also thought about the main EasyList, Fanboy's and Peter Lowe's but I'm not sure if it will have some negative impact on browsing speed. Can you share your enabled filters and/or thoughts? @avatar What do you think about that? Are Adguard filters so comprehensive that other filters, except native language filters, are pointless?
Mozilla takes a long time for code review and to approve the addon. If you trust the product, then there is no reason not to install the addon from their website. Lastpass addon in AMO is outdated and Https Everywhere never hosted in AMO because of security issues in AMO. Not all addons which don't pass Mozilla's code review is bad.
Hi all! Sorry for delay, I am working on Adguard v6 trying to speed it up. @Dragon1952 @800ster If extension detects Adguard for Windows or Mac it stops filtering. Everything is done by the "big brother". So filters should be set in the app, not in extension. Also thank you for the questions. I see that all this integration is not simple to understand. We'll soon write a detailed article about browser extension integration mode.
Not sure about it. WOT already does it good and also they are our partners. Competing with them seems wrong to me.
If you want to block ads then our filters are enough. But there're lots of good filters with another purposes. For instance, Fanboy's Annoyances, Malwaredomains, etc.
Go to the AdGuard site and look at purchasing it in Russian Rubles its a LOT cheaper than the western prices!!
